you on a stroll through our downtown, which is listed
in the National Historic Register and boasts 245 buildings
from earlier days. Take in the Edwin Carter Museum Slide

Breckenridge Recreation Center provides programs
and activities for all ages including: tennis, scuba,
kayak and swim lessons, first aid instruction, climbing

- The finest athletes from around the world descend
on Breckenridge for the second stop of this USSA sanctioned
snowboard series. The Grand Prix is one of the most
prestigious and richest snowboard circuits in
the world, expect incredible performances and after-hours
entertainment to match the magnitude of this world-class
competition.

Run Resort are hosting an interactive cooking demonstration.
The class will feature a six-course menu with a varying
ethnic focus each month. At the start of each class,

24 thru 26 - X-Games Qualifier, Freeskiing Super
Pipe and Slopestyle - While snowboarders have been
competing in the half-pipe for more than a decade, the
pipe has been gaining popularity in the free-skiing
ranks. The Super Pipe at Breckenridge, CO was created
as a qualifier for competitors to prove they have what
it takes to compete in this year's X -Games.
25 - SOS Outreach Series- Super Pipe
28 thru 2/2 - International Snow Sculpture Championships
- 14 Teams from around the world compete in this eye-pleasing
event, creating mammoth works of art from 12-feet tall,
20-ton blocks of snow. The sculptors work during the
week, reshaping the bounty of Mother Nature into freeform
whimsy or spellbinding intricacy. Well-known artists
act as judges for the event, which has brought sculptors
from as far away as Morocco, Belize, Japan, Canada,
Scandinavia, Russia, China and Wales.

3 thru 9 - Ullr Fest - A weeklong schedule of
events devoted to something Breckenridge does well -
having fun! Homage is paid to the mythical Norse god
of winter. Ullr Fest includes events all week such as
an ice-skating party, Ullympics, a Nordic ski event,
kids' games and a parade of great renown on Thursday,
Feb. 6.
6 - Ullr Fest for Kids - Kids and parents can
join the Summit Historical Society to learn about the
history of Ullr Fest and make your Own "crown of
horns." Once at 10:30 a.m.
at Main Street Station and once at 4 p.m. at the Free

1 - April Fool's Day - Breckenridge celebrates
this wacky holiday with a town bar-b-cue hosted by the
Breckenridge Restaurant Association and the crowning
of the town fool.
5 thru 20 - Spring Massive - The third annual
Spring Massive Festival is a multi-faceted, interactive
festival including entertainment, family fun, competitions
and free riding. Experience legendary spring skiing
and riding. Includes incredible lodging and lift packages.
Whether it's the legendary terrain parks, outrageous
nightlife or high stakes competition, this spring in
Breckenridge is going to be huge.

11 - Massive Rail Jam
12 - Imperial Challenge - A grueling three-stage
race testing competitors' endurance as they bike and
hike from the town of Breckenridge at 9600 feet to the
top of Imperial Bowl on Peak 8 at 12,998 feet. Participants
complete the race by skiing or snowboarding to the Bergenhof
Restaurant at Peak 8.
13 - Bump Buffet - One of Breckenridge's long-standing
spring skiing traditions, the 24th Annual Bump Buffet
combines talent with spirit as telemarkers tackle the
bumps dressed in zany costumes. A must-see for those
wishing to witness the effects of cabin fever in Colorado.
14 - E-Chair Challenge
18 & 19 - The Summit Foundation Hockey Classic
- This spirited hockey competition brings together
resort staff members, local personalities and celebrities
from near and far. This evening's event is topped off
by an awards dinner with a sports related silent live
auction. Join us, as Vail Resorts will make an attempt
to take back the throne from Intrawest while helping
to raise money for the Summit Foundation. Games are
at 7 p.m.

19 & 20 - Snow Active Kid's Weekend
19 - Great Egg Scramble - From 10-11:30 a.m.,
the Breckenridge Recreation Center hosts its annual
Great Egg Scramble for kids ages 2-10 years. There are
three scrambles: all ages in the pool; 2-5 year olds
in the gym; and 6-10 year olds in the gym. There will
be a grand prizewinner for the one with the special
egg. Each child receives one goodie bag and gets to

fanatics play at the Steven C. West Ice Arena in the
sequel to Breckenridge's crazy multi-day hockey event
to raise funds for the Breckenridge Outdoor Education
Center.
May is when the snow melts in the mountains, locals
call it "Mud Season". The bike trails are
usually free of snow and uncrowded.

The campgrounds open this month and after the schools
let out they fill up and stay that way until school
starts again in August - book early. The music festivals
start this month, each town has their own schedules
featuring the National Repertory Orchestra and the Breckenridge
Music Institute. Specialty concerts fill the weekends
with Jazz, Blues, Country and Ethnic music.

1 thru 22- BreckFest - This holiday celebration
includes the Lighting Decoration Contest & Passport
Program as well as visits from Santa and carolers strolling
around town during the weekends. The holidays are a
great time to be in Breckenridge! Breckenridge businesses
compete for the best holiday decorations in town. Don't
miss this spectacular display of lights and holiday
fun. During this timeframe you can pick up a holiday
passport at locations around town and visit Breckenridge
businesses to be entered in a drawing for great prizes.
1 - Night of Opera and Theater - Soprano, Jane
Thorngren and baritone, Walter MacNeil and pianist Debra
Ayers perform opera, Neapolitan song, Folk Song and
Musical Theater. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Lord
of the Mountain Church. This is the third of four Breckenridge
Music Institute collaborative concerts throughout the

7- The Lighting of Breckenridge - This is truly
an old-fashioned holiday celebration complete with steaming
cups of hot cocoa, voices lifting into the night skies
with choruses of "Silent Night" during the
lighting of the Town tree. The day kicks off with a
free craft workshop at the Riverwalk Center for kids
and families from noon to approximately 4 p.m. Carolers
gather at Daniel's Cabin at 4:30 p.m. to meet Santa
and
make their way down Main Street to the lighting of the
Christmas tree. The lighting is followed by a brief
fireworks display and concert led by the Summit High
school choir.
7, 14, 22- Victorian Christmas at the Carter Museum
- Share the history, customs and joy of Victorian Christmas
traditions. Make & Take Home Activity: Victorian
mitten and glove ornaments, tricket tubes, and pomander
balls (ages 6 to 96). $15 per person, refreshments included
& reservations are required. The event takes place
from 2-4 p.m. at The Carter Museum, 111 N. Ridge St.

7- Holiday Workshop - From 10-11:30 a.m. join

8 thru 15- Disabled Sports USA Hartford Ski Spectacular
- Local DSUSA chapter:
Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center and the Breckenridge
Ski Resort host the largest gathering of challenged
athletes from around the world. Skiers with physical
disabilities, instructors and family members gather
in Breckenridge for this annual event. The week includes
learn to ski and race programs, youth development camps,
fully sanctioned USSA races and a celebrity fun race.
11 thru 15 - Rocky Mountain Balloon Challenge -
In 2001, the Rocky Mountain Balloon Challenge participants
set a new Guinness Book World record by flying 15 balloons
over the Continental Divide. Top balloonists from across
the country participate in this visually spectacular
event annually and battle weather, altitude and the
Continental Divide to attempt a new world record each
year.
12- Briggle House Christmas Party for the Summit
Historical Society- An annual Christmas party starting
at 6 p.m. showcasing this beautifully restored Victorian
house and museum. Reservations are required and can

- For the fifth consecutive year, Breckenridge hosts
the first major snowboard event of the season. Competition
includes Slopestyle, Big Air and Superpipe on the Freeway

compete, ride or just hang out, kick off the season
at the Vans Triple Crown!

in the Blue River Plaza on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and

and hear their wish lists.
